14 Sep Poor Spelling Loses Sales
Internet entrepreneur Charles Duncombe claims that poor spelling is costing the UK £millions in lost sales for internet businesses, saying that an analysis of website figures shows a single spelling mistake can half online sales.
Mr Duncombe says that it is possible to precisely identify the impact of a spelling mistake, relating how he measured the revenue per visitor to tightsplease.co.uk and found that the revenue doubled after an error was corrected.
Spelling is vital for the credibility of a website. When there are concerns about fraud and privacy, e.g. when a consumer is suspicious of spam or phishing attempts, a wrongly spelled word could be a deal-breaker.
Our CMS Pro content management system includes spell-checking facilities in the WYSIWYG File Editor. Other popular applications such as office suites normally have them too. Can you afford not to use them?
